Hanging of the Hands January 26, 2012:
This will be the kick off for Children's Week. The Citrus County Communities Alliance, The Early Learning Coalition, Local Pre-K/ Daycares and Devereux Kids are teaming up with the Citrus County Library System. The local neighborhood Libraries throughout the county are celebrating the week with us by displaying the hands of local Pre-K, Daycare Centers and Elementary/Primary School students. Along with the hands display there will also be information on the 40 Developmental Assets and on local organizations and service providers that focus their attentions on issues that affect the health and well being of children, youth and families in Citrus County. Having the hands on display locally will bring more parents, children, youth, professionals, advocates, community leaders, local government and concerned citizens together with the same focus "Children".

The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota
County's Child Care Connection will celebrate
Children's Week by displaying local children's
"hands" artwork; having small giveaways for
parents and children; promoting Children's Week
through a locally developed flyer; and having
the LEAF (literacy empowers all families) mascot
visit our parent lobby.
Several local libraries will also incorporate
Children's Week into their weekly story time
hour by displaying "hands" artwork and the
Children's Week flyer.
City buses will display children's artwork and
will promote Children's Week.
Local children's artwork will be displayed
throughout the county.
