Children's Week offers volunteers a wealth of opportunities to get involved with events and activities, and provides a network of thousands of child advocates to collaborate with across the state. Volunteers can participate on over a dozen Children's Week Statewide Committees, organize a local event, participate in the 'Hanging of the Hands' dedication to the Florida Legislature, or help out in any way possible.

To sign up as a Children's Week Volunteer and join thousands of volunteers statewide. Please fill out the form below, and tell us how you'd like to get involved!

I am interested in signing up for one of the following committees:

Media
The media committee organizes and oversees all promotional and advertising aspects of Children's Week. They handle all forms of media communication, including developing and distributing TV, newspaper, and radio ads statewide. The Media Committee will also help design and approve all promotional materials including flyers, press releases, and oversee press coverage of local events and events taking place at the Capitol.

Local Events
The local events committee combines the efforts of Children's Week, Winds of Change, Get Outdoors Florida! and the Association of Early Learning Coalitions to organize events and activities designed to promote the health, safety and well-being of children and families. The local events committee identifies local coordinators and helps organize events and activities in all 67 Florida counties including local proclamations/resolutions, press conferences, Capital Steps for Kids walks/activities, fitness activities, town hall meetings, lunches/dinners, parades, fairs and civic education forums.

Children's Activities at the Capitol
This committee will help to organize and facilitate the "Children's Capitol for a Day" in the state Capitol Rotunda and the Capitol Courtyard. "Children's Capitol for a Day" hosts thousands of children, parents, advocates, community leaders and policy makers from throughout the state gathering for a day of educational and interactive events and activities. This Committee will help organize the luncheon, guided tours of Capitol, interactive booth set up and courtyard entertainment and activities.

Advocacy Dinner and Reception
Children's Week Partners will host a series of statewide association meetings throughout the day in Tallahassee which will culminate with a dinner and networking reception that evening to honor and recognize Children's Week partners and non-profit organizations who dedicate their lives to children's issues. The winner of the Chiles Advocacy Award will be announced. This committee will help organize the dinner and reception which includes selecting the dinner site, menus, securing speakers for the dinner, promotions, invitations and registration.

Chiles Advocacy Award
The Chiles Advocacy Award committee sets the guidelines for nomination and selection of the Chiles Advocacy Award. This committee reviews all applications and makes recommendations for final approval. The top recommendations chosen will then go to the independent Southeast Evaluation Association.
