Statewide media attend Children's Week press conference
Children's Week has proven to be a real symbol of change and collaboration in the State of Florida. Children's Week bridges the gap between child advocates in Florida and policy makers in our State Capitol. Children's Week allows everyone an opportunity to work together to protect our most precious commodity- our children. The true impact of our collaborative efforts is strengthened by our partnerships and through widespread media coverage of children's issues across the state.

Florida Children and Youth Cabinet
The top priority of the 2006 Florida Children's Summit was to create a Children's Cabinet, and thanks to the hard work and effort of all of our Children's Week partners and the Florida Legislature, in 2007, Governor Charlie Crist signed legislation to establish the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet within the office of the Governor. The legislation directs all state agencies and programs that touch the lives of children and youth to develop a strategic plan to work in a coordinated and comprehensive fashion with an emphasis on providing a continuum of services that benefit children from prenatal care through programs supporting successful transition to self-sufficient adulthood. Children's Week embodies this holistic approach to the well-being of Florida's children and provides an arena for collaboration and change.
